Great track and the EP is well worth a purchase too. Brand new and out now on digi and wax.
This month, Droppin’ Science is joined by special guest DJ CHRIS READ.
Fresh off his international tour, Chris will be joining Matman, Nickname & Daredevil to do what he does best.
Don’t sleep on what’s now become one of East London’s livliest Hip Hop parties.
Chris Read… SUBSTANCE resident DJ & promoter 1995 to 2007 / BBC 1 Xtra mix show dj 2002 to 2004 / Different Drummer label project co-ordinator 1999 – 2001
A collector of hip hop, funk, soul, boogie and related beats and jazz based music since the late eighties, is best known for his abilities as club DJ through his involvement in Substance (one of the UK’s longest running regular hip hop and funk nights) and his 2 year spell as mix DJ on BBC Radio 1Xtra. However, it is Chris’s broad musical taste and knowledge and ability to throw the unexpected into the mix that have sealed his reputation as a popular club DJ.

We will be delivering a seamless blend of Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Disco, 80’s & Newjack plus a few surprises for the ultimate party vibe.
The first one…

Whilst Daredevil holds the fort back here in London, myself (DJ Nickname) and DJ Matman will be taking the Droppin’ Science sound to Petrcane in July where you will also be able to check out the likes of DaM-FunK, Zero 7, The Cinematic Orchestra and a shed load more!
Tickets are dead cheap for a festival, and they’re selling fast so don’t sleep!
The crazy cartoon charactor that is Sharon Jones and her group the mighty Dapkings (best known for their work with Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson)bless us again this year with their 4th long player. “I Learned the Hard Way” comes into stores on April 6 and damn it sounds good!
For a taste of what’s to come, Daptone Records have kindly provided the album’s title track for download.
More info:
Produced by Bosco Mann and recorded on an Ampex eight-track tape machine by Gabriel Roth in Daptone Records’ House of Soul studios, this record drips with a warmth and spontaneity rarely found since the golden days of Muscle Shoals and Stax. Sharon’s raw power, rhythmic swagger, moaning soulfulness, and melodic command set her firmly alongside Tina Turner, James Brown, Mavis Staples, and Aretha as a fixture in the canon of soul music. From the lushPhilly-Soul fanfare that ushers in “The Game Gets Old” at the top of the record, to the stripped down Sam Cooke-style“Mama Don’t Like My Man” at the tail, the Dap-Kings dance seamlessly through both the most crafted and simple arrangements with subtlety and discipline. I Learned the Hard Way is the “Daptone Sound” at its finest.
