The immensely talented Japanese DJ/producer June Seba aka Nujabes passed away a couple of months ago after being in a car accident. Nujabes is one of my favourite producers with his completely unique sound, amazing gift for sampling & ability to bring out the best in all those he collaborated with. The Hyde Out Productions founder worked with the likes of CYNE, C.L. Smooth, Shing02, Five Deez, Apani B, Funky DL & Substantial. Hyde Out Productions have confirmed that Nujabes has left behind some unreleased recordings which are to be released at some point in the future. Below is my favourite track of his ‘Hikari’ taken from the Modal Soul album featuring Substantial, who played C.L. Smooth to Nujabes’ Pete Rock. This is a true loss to the music world, June Seba rest in peace.
